WORKSHOP 4

Can you handle it? Peer Critique

Introduction

Workshop 4 is aimed at all artists at all stages of their career.  Places are limited to 8.

Tutor: Paul O’Neill

Tuesday 3 October, 10.30 – 4.30 pm

Venue: NSF mezzanine

Workshop Description

In a small country like Ireland where everybody knows or ‘knows of’ each other, artists often feel they are working in a vacuum in terms of honest critical feedback and interaction about their work.  Most artists might agree that it is through articulation and discussion about their work that they are able to move beyond personal concerns and see their practice in a wider context.

Peer Critique is a 1-day session, facilitated by artist / curator Paul O’Neill.  A small group of artists will be given the opportunity to discuss their practice with fellow practitioners, in a constructive, supported and positive atmosphere.  The workshop is intended to open up dialogue between artistic peers in a world where many are starved of feedback and thoughtful responses to their work.  It will also foster networking and contacts between artists.  Those attending should be open and prepared to respond to other’s work and should come prepared with a 20-minute presentation on their work.
