National Sculpture Factory Awards

The National Sculpture Factory offers awards via a residency programme and the National Sculpture Factory Award for an Outstanding Student.

This award aims to support the transition between art student and professional artist and specifically, to give time, space and support, (including professional development training), to a new graduate.

To date, this award has been offered to a Crawford School of Art graduate, based on their graduation show.

Recipient of the Outstanding Student Award 2007 / 2008

James McCann – National Sculpture Factory Award for an Outstanding Student 2007 / 2008

James McCann

The National Sculpture Factory is pleased to award James McCann the 2007 NSF Residency Award for an outstanding Graduate. James graduated from the Crawford College of Art & Design with 1st class honours; James also won the Crawford Student of the Year and the Backwater Artists Group prize. As well as the studio space and stipend normally offered, this year we are delighted to team up with CIT and offer the winner an opportunity to exhibit or present a project or event in a CIT venue. James’ work is performance-based video and sound installation and we hope he will make good use of our new media facilities and digital equipment
